Pumpkin Spice Latte returns

Pumpkin Spice Latte returns
Nobody wants to admit it, but the end of summer is just around the corner. It's almost time to stuff the paddling pool to the back of the cupboard and look out the wellies instead. Don't forget to give your barbecue a clean before the cover goes on. Did I just spot the halloween decorations at the supermarket?

Luckily, the turning of the season always comes with a little pick-me-up to soften the blow. The annual release of special autumnal editions at coffee shops is an eagerly anticipated event, for both budding influencers and the rest of us alike. Millions of warming, spiced coffees are served up around the world every August. And here at Fierce, it made us ask… "how can we cash in on that?"

Jokes aside, at Fierce we love to experiment with new flavours as much as the next brewery. More, in fact. We love barrel-aging and have utilised it across both standard and mixed fermentation beers. We've brewed fruited sours, big silly stouts, and IPAs both juicy and resinous. And sometimes we like to brew things that don't taste like beer. We've had loads of great feedback on our Cherry Cola Sour, our Fierce Iron Brew, and our Pumpkin Spice Latte. So, after a year off in 2024, PSL is back, ready to welcome you into the cooler months.

First brewed in October 2022, Pumpkin Spice Latte is an amber ale loaded with the flavours of pumpkin spice. This blend of aromatic ingredients includes nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, clove and allspice. To bridge the gap between beer and coffee, we used Munich and Caramalt for sweet, toasty flavours, plus oats to soften the texture and add body. Espresso beans were also added, bringing coffee flavour, and a final touch of vanilla enhanced the sweetness of the malt.

The first edition was such a success, we brought it back in 2023, with a new label but the recipe unchanged, and once again it was a big success; our fastest-selling beer that year. Alongside it we also released Maple Hazelnut Latte, a similar beer but with different additions blended with the coffee beans and vanilla.

Now in 2025, after last year's hiatus (due to a jam-packed release schedule), we've brought back PSL with a new look and a new and improved recipe. Crystal, Brown and Rye malts take the place of Munich, Biscuit and Special B, bringing with them the deeper flavours of highly kilned malt, and a touch of spiciness from the rye which integrates with the spice blend. Caramalt remains, adding sweetness and hints of caramel.

We're delighted to be bringing back one of our best-loved beers, and we can't wait to hear what you think of the latest edition.
