We Are Hiring : Lead Brewer

Full time permanent position, 40 hours per week.

Variable shift pattern.

Salary: £32,000 – £35,000

We’re looking for a Lead Brewer to join the brewery team in Dyce, Aberdeen, supporting the full brewing process from raw materials through to finished beer. This role is hands-on, quality-focused, and ideal for someone who takes pride in consistency, cleanliness, and great beer. 

About the role

The Lead Brewer will be responsible for the oversight of all WIP beers, ensuring all beers are within technical parameters, and identifying issues in good time. You will also work continuously to improve efficiencies within the production process, including cost, time, and quality whilst maintaining processes and records in line with the SALSA and other legislative requirements.

You’ll also carry out laboratory checks such as yeast counts and viability testing, complete production records in Breww software, and help maintain high standards across hygiene, safety, and quality control. 

What you’ll do

  • Oversight and management of all WIP beers, ensuring all beers are within technical parameters (pH, O2, gravity, sensory etc), and identifying any issues in good time to allow fixes to be made.
  • Working with the Head Brewer to coordinate and allocate day to day tasks within the brew team. 
  • Operating the brewhouse and cellar ensuring recipes are followed accordingly and accurately and that beers are produced to the highest quality.
  • Maintaining the brewhouse and other cellar equipment to an extremely high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in line with SALSA accreditation. 
  • Routine maintenance of brewhouse and fermenting equipment as required. 
  • Sign off WIP beers at key progression stages to ensure highest quality and most efficient use of resources.
  • Oversee and supervise work carried out by brew team, ensuring standards are upheld and SOP’s are being followed.
  • Perform laboratory work for yeast counts/viabilities and other quality assurance testing

What we’re looking for

  • Formal brewing qualification at Degree or Masters level essential, or equivalent experience demonstrated
  • Minimum 3-5 years professional brewing experience
  • Ability to supervise a team, work independently and cooperatively, and to deadlines
  • Organised with attention to detail, good numeric and analytical skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge of QHSE, hygiene and brewery specific standards including HACCP
  • Ability to drive improvement and innovation
  • The use of pallet trucks and forklift driving experience/license is desirable
  • Full UK driving license desirable
