Position Overview
As our Bookkeeper, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all day-to-day financial transactions within the business, maintaining high quality financial records, supporting smooth month-end processes, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
Accounts Receivable
- Raise customer invoices and credit notes, in Xero and/or customer specific systems
- Allocate customer payments
- Monitor aged debtors and support credit control activities
- Follow up overdue accounts in line with company procedures
Banking Management
- Reconcile bank transactions daily
- Process expense claims and reimbursements
- Support weekly cashflow updates
Payroll Support
- Collect and verify timesheets and absence records
- Prepare payroll inputs including PAYE, NI, pension contributions, employee
- benefits, tips, expenses, deductions and statutory leave
- Ensure payroll journals and related reconciliations are accurate
Month End Support
- Reconcile key balance sheet accounts
- Assist with accruals, prepayments, stock reconciliation and journals
- Ensure all transactional data is complete by month end deadlines
- Provide supporting documentation for internal and external reporting
- Maintain register of assets and depreciation schedule
- Administer and schedule beer duty payments
QHSE
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment
- Be aware of both their your own safety and the safety of others
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Proven working experience as a bookkeeper or finance assistant role (inc experience with bank recs, AP/AR and payroll inputs)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping best practice
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills (e.g. Xero)
- Discretion and ability to work with sensitive personnel and financial data (essential)
- The ability to work independently, cooperatively within a small team, and to deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Good communication skills when dealing with suppliers, customers and colleagues
- Knowledge of QHSE standards (desirable)
Hours:
- 8am-4.30pm, Mon-Fri
- Flexibility may be required during busier periods
- Full time, permanent position
